内容简介:

This paper investigates how firms strategically adjust workplace culture disclosure in response to reputational risk spillovers from peer workplace controversies. Leveraging a unique dataset that combines workplace controversies data from RepRisk and job postings information from Lightcast, I find that firms significantly increase workplace culture disclosure in job postings following the public exposure of peer workplace controversies. The disclosure response is strongest for firms facing heightened reputational risk and operating in competitive labor markets. Meanwhile, it is muted for firms with high culture misalignment risk and attenuated by labor market frictions that limit employee mobility. Further analysis shows that higher workplace culture disclosure is associated with greater inflows and lower turnover of skilled employees after peer controversies. These findings highlight the strategic role of workplace culture disclosure in mitigating reputational risk and enhancing a firm’s competitive positioning in the labor market.
