Prof. Randolph P.Beatty
Dean, Australian School of Business, University of New South Wales, Australia
Professor Beatty is the Dean of the Leventhal School of Accounting at the University of Southern California¡¯s Marshall School of Business. Dean Beatty also holds the Alan Casden Dean¡¯s Chair of Accountancy.
Prior to joining USC, Professor Beatty was the Distinguished Professor of Accounting at Southern Methodist University (1992-2001). In addition, he has held faculty positions at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago (1987 ¨C 1991) and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (1981-1987). His PhD was earned at the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1982. He holds a Master¡¯s of Accounting Science and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana.
Professor Beatty has won or been nominated for teaching awards throughout his career. In 1994, Professor Beatty was named as one of twelve Masters¡¯ of the Classroom by Business Week. At Leventhal, he teaches an innovative financial statement analysis class to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Professor Beatty has published numerous articles appearing in management, law, finance, and accounting journals. His research addresses contemporary management concerns from an applied economics perspective. Professor Beatty¡¯s research spans a wide range of issues concerning initial public offerings, private firm valuation, and corporate control.
