The origin of the Department of Information, Technology and Innovation can be traced back to the Institute of Systems Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which was initiated by Academician Zhang Zhongjun and approved by Shanghai Science & Technology Committee in 1982. The main research fields of the faculty include business model modeling driven by information and emerging technologies, big data analysis, decision-making support system, financial information management, e-commerce, e-government, smart city, intelligent health management, investment value analysis of IT projects, national and regional innovation systems, technological innovation management, green (environmental) innovation and management, entrepreneurshipmanagement, enterprise strategic management, engineering and project management, etc.
In the past three years, the faculty has presided over one major project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), one priority project of major research plans of NSFC, three general projects of NSFC, one international cooperation project of NSFC, one youth project of NSFC, one emergency project of NSFC, two projects of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee, one Twilight Plan and three horizontal projects. The faculty has published over 150 academic papers in domestic and foreign journals and international conferences (including 4Class A, 1 Class A- and 8 Class B papers in the international community, 1 Class A, 18 Class B+and 49 Class B papers in China), and have compiled over 20 textbooks and works, which have produced good academic reputation and social influence.
The scientific research achievements made by the faculty mainly include two 2nd prizes, one 3rd prize and 1 Youth Achievement Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research (Humanities & Social Sciences) of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, and two 1st prizes and two 2nd prizes in the Excellent Achievement Award in Philosophy and Social Sciences in Shanghai.

After graduation, some postgraduate students with a master’s degree go to high-level universities at home and abroad to study their Ph.D., while others go to leading institutions or enterprises in the market for employment. Doctoral students mainly go to famous higher education institutions all over the country to engage in teaching and scientific research after graduation.
