2025 Spring Semester Orientation Successfully Held 2025-02-20

On February 16, 2025, Antai College of Economics and Management of Shanghai Jiao Tong University welcomed 46 international students from 24 countries around the world, along with 12 exchange students from Hong Kong and Taiwan, China to its Xuhui Campus. To help the exchange students settle down into both academic and campus life, the College and University organized a full day Orientation with a series of traditional Chinese cultural activities.


In the morning, the college-level Orientation was held on Xuhui Campus. Ms. Tracy LIN, Associate Director of the International Office at Antai, extended a warm welcome to all the exchange students and provided an overview of the college. Next, Ms. Lindsey Ma from the Teaching Office introduced important information about course selection and campus life to the newcomers. Representatives from the previous semester’s exchange programs shared their experiences of studying and living afterwards, offering valuable insights for the new students.


In the afternoon, students attended the university-level orientation on Minhang campus with joint efforts from the International Student Center and the International Student Service Center of the university. During the session, the students learned detailed information about accommodation, insurance, and student club activities. Following this, the newcomers participated in the "Welcoming the New Year with Joy and Fortune" Chinese cultural experience event at Donghui Yuan. There, the exchange students engaged in various traditional cultural activities, such as touhu (an ancient Chinese game), Hanfu dressing, calligraphy, sachet making, lantern crafting, paper cutting, rubbing, and lacquer fan painting, deeply immersing themselves in the charm of Chinese culture.


The Orientation Day was jointly organized by the International Office and Teaching Office of Antai together with coordination from the university’s International Student Center and International Student Service Center. It not only provided comprehensive guidance for the new students to familiarize themselves with the Xuhui and Minhang campuses of Shanghai Jiao Tong University but also enhanced their understanding of traditional Chinese culture through hands-on cultural experiences. The new students expressed that the event filled them with anticipation for their future campus life and their journey in China.
