The Thirteenth International Conference of the Chinese Scholars Association for Management Science and Engineering (CSAMSE) will be held online on July 30- August 01, 2021 in Shanghai and organized by Antai College of Economics & Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China.
CSAMSE is a highly recognized and rapidly growing community of scholars, from both overseas and mainland China, in the field of Management Science and Engineering (MSE), who are united by a common interest to promote the communication between academia and industry and to improve management theory and practice in China. Over the past 13 years, our annual conference has developed into a great meeting place to understand the latest business developments in China and to keep abreast of the cutting edge research ideas in Management Science and Engineering.
The Changing Landscape of Management Science, the theme of 2021 CSAMSE conference, is derived from the current business situations adapted by many aspects, such as the application of various disruptive technologies (such as Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Data science and analytics), the best practice of China and other emerging markets, the changing atlas of global competition, and the challenges faced by human development. This theme reflects our desire to promote inter-disciplinary research and the theory-practice dialogue. We invite scholars in MSE, broadly defined, from around the world to present their research at the conference. Of course, papers that are in line with the conference theme are especially welcome.
As in the past, we will invite world-renown scholars and industry thought leaders to give keynote speeches and lead panel discussions. We are pleased to announce that Dr. Christopher S. Tang, the UCLA Distinguished Professor and the former Editor of M&SOM, Dr. John Birge, Hobart W. Williams Distinguished Service Professor of Operations Management from the University of Chicago, and Dr. Jianmin Jia, Presidential Chair Professor from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, have agreed to be the keynote speakers in 2021 CSAMSE conference.
The CSAMSE Young Scholars Colloquium will take place again at the 2021 CSAMSE conference. We cordially invite young scholars (lecturer/assistant/associate professors and advanced doctoral students) to a colloquium that features presentations of successful mid-career scholars and panel discussions of senior fellows with extensive research and editorial experience. The purpose of the colloquium is to bring together young scholars in the fields of Management Science, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, etc. to discuss the challenges they face in research and career development. This year, our theme is academic research and industry collaboration.
The CSAMSE Female Scholars Luncheon provides a great networking opportunity to discuss challenges in career development and to share experiences that are unique for female scholars in operations research, operations management and industrial engineering. The Luncheon welcomes female scholars at various stages of their career (assistant/associate/full professors, as well as doctoral students) to join the event. As usual, we will have several guests to join us and share their thoughts and experiences. The theme of this year is (i) Career development in academia and industries; (ii) Female leaders hip: Challenges and opportunities.
Apart from the long-standing CSAMSE Best Paper Award (referring to the conference website for details), the newly established CSAMSE Management Science Practice Award will also be bestowed again this year. It is a prestigious award to recognize an outstanding piece of work that is rooted in the principles of Management Science and Engineering and has a significant impact on practice. The Award is for an individual or a group of people. An eligible application must provide evidence of practical impact, which is broadly defined to be any contribution to a business or an organization in terms of performance improvements or changes in how practitioners approach a real-world problem. The inaugural award will be given at the conference. More details about the award and the application process can be found in the attached flyer “CSAMSE Management Science Practice Award,” which is also available on the conference website. The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2021.
The Special Issue of Journal of Management Science and Engineering (JMSE), being themed The Changing Landscape of Management Science, is jointly launched by JMSE and CSAMSE through the platform of 2021 CSAMSE conference, and seeks to publish high-quality scholarly papers that focus on original works or comprehensive reviews with relevancy of the theme in the fields of management science and engineering.
