Profile
Professor Xiaodong Xu is a faculty member in the Department of Accounting at the Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University. Currently, Professor Xiaodong Xu teaches courses in Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Multinational Financial Management.
His research is centered on the pivotal role of accounting information in capital markets, encompassing areas such as conservatism, earnings management, corporate governance, environmental management, and securities market regulation. His scholarly contributions are evidenced by publications in prestigious journals, including the Journal of Business Ethics,International Review of Financial Analysis, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production, China Accounting and Finance Review, China Finance Review International, Economic Research Journal (in Chinese), and China Accounting Review, among others. His outstanding achievements are recognized through accolades such as the 2001 Tsinghua SEM Kobayashi's China Economic Research Fund Award, the 2003 Tsinghua University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, and the 2008, 2010, and 2011 Shanghai Jiao
Professor Xiaodong Xu is a faculty member in the Department of Accounting at the Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He earned his Ph.D. in Accounting from the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University. Currently, he teaches courses such as Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Accounting, Corporate Finance, and Multinational Financial Management.
Professor Xu's research focuses on the critical role of accounting information in capital markets, covering topics including conservatism, earnings management, corporate governance, environmental management, and securities market regulation. His scholarly work has been published in renowned journals such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Cleaner Production, China Accounting and Finance Review, China Finance Review International, Economic Research Journal (in Chinese), and China Accounting Review, among others. His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the 2001 Tsinghua SEM Kobayashi China Economic Research Fund Award, the 2003 Tsinghua University Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Excellent Annual Assessment Award in 2008, 2010, and 2011.
Professor Xu has held visiting professorships at Columbia Business School and Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a council member of the Board of Directors of China Accounting Review and serves as an editor for the Journal of Systems Management (in Chinese). Additionally, he has brought his expertise to practice, serving as an independent director for nearly 10 companies over the past decade.
