Professor Jing Runtian Elected as President of the International Association for Chinese Management Research 2023-06-22
From June 14 to 18, the 10th biennial conference of the International Association for Chinese Management Research (IACMR) was held at Hong Kong Baptist University. With the theme "Globalization in Flux: China and the World," over 1500 teachers and students from more than 30 countries and regions including Mainland China, Hong Kong, the United States, the United Kingdom, and France gathered to discuss cutting-edge topics and recent findings in management and organizational research. At the conference, Professor Jing Runtian from the Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was elected as the new president of the association for 2023-2025.
Professor Wei Bingjiang, President of Hong Kong Baptist University, welcomed the guests on behalf of the host at the opening ceremony. This conference is the first offline IACMR meeting since the 2018 conference in Wuhan, and it has seen an unprecedented turnout. The intensive five-day academic conference included 5 keynote speeches, 95 paper presentations, 49 roundtable discussions, 10 special topic discussions, and 21 research workshops. More than ten teachers and students from Antai College of Economics and Management actively participated and shared their research findings. The paper co-authored by doctoral student Liu Fangzhou, his advisor Professor Liang Jian, and others from the organizational management department, won the best paper award for MOR-RRBM (Responsible Management Research Award).
On the evening of June 17, at the closing ceremony of the biennial conference, Professor Wei Shen from Arizona State University, the chair of the conference, presided over the event. After the solemn handover ceremony, Professor Jing Runtian was officially appointed as the new president of the association for 2023-2025. In his inaugural speech, Professor Jing Runtian first expressed his gratitude on behalf of the association to all outgoing officials, represented by Professor Ray Friedman, for their outstanding contributions during the pandemic. He also recounted the significant influence of IACMR on his career development and key academic turning points, articulated his vision for the future of IACMR, and outlined his duties and objectives as the president of the association. Following this, Professor David Zhu, the chair of the 2025 IACMR conference, introduced the host, theme, and features of the next conference.
The compact and high-quality academic discussions of the IACMR biennial conference, as well as the professional conference organization by Hong Kong Baptist University, left a deep impression on all participants and received unanimous praise. The conference also received coverage and positive reviews from more than 10 media outlets, including China Central Television, Phoenix Satellite Television, and China Daily.
