The 2024 Commencement and Degree Awarding Ceremony of Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), was held at the Wenzhitang Auditorium at the Xuhui Campus on June 25. The event was attended by SJTU Party Committee Deputy Secretary Zhou Cheng, ACEM Dean Chen Fanguo, Party Secretary Jiang Wenning, Deputy Dean and Executive Dean of the SJTU-BOC Institute of Technology and Finance Liu Shaoxuan, Party Committee Deputy Secretary Guo Fei, along with faculty members, alumni representatives, and over 400 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral graduates. The ceremony was hosted by Jiang Wenning.

The ceremony commenced with the solemn national anthem. 

On behalf of the university, Zhou Cheng extended warm congratulations to the 2024 graduates. He reviewed the growth and experiences of the students during their time at the university and put forth three expectations for them in light of the current social development and challenges: to firmly uphold their ideals and beliefs, to courageously take on the mission of the times, to persist in innovation and dare to break through, to always stay grounded and hone their skills. He encouraged the graduates to actively practice the SJTU values of "choosing SJTU means choosing responsibility" and "leaving SJTU means bravely taking on the mission."

Chen Fanguo, on behalf of ACEM, congratulated the graduates and expressed gratitude to the faculty and families who have nurtured and supported the students. Drawing from his own experiences, he shared three pieces of advice: to remember the school motto "Gratitude and Responsibility" as a motto for life after entering society; to adhere to the development concept of "Interdisciplinary Integration and Unity of Knowledge and Action" and maintain an open mind to face the changing times; and to develop good habits, especially persisting in regular exercise. He emphasized that ACEM will always be the graduates' spiritual home.

As the faculty representative, Associate Professor Qin Xiao expressed her deep blessings to the graduates, exhorting them to do what they love and are good at, to cultivate "closed-loop" thinking, to be a reliable person, and to integrate their "small self" into the "greater self." 

Alumni representative Zhong Wenming shared his campus memories and insights, encouraging the graduates to make simple things professional, to persist in making the right things a brand, and to courageously create value from the right things.

The ceremony recognized outstanding graduates who have excelled in their thesis defenses, chosen to serve in key national industries and fields, or been selected as Shanghai Outstanding Graduates and SJTU Outstanding Graduates. Undergraduate representative Yin Yimin, master's representative Huo Binyu, and doctoral representative Xia Chengcheng delivered speeches expressing their gratitude, aspirations, and blessings.

The degree awarding ceremony was then solemnly held, with the dean and faculty members awarding degree certificates and tassel turning for the graduates. The ceremony also featured an exchange of graduation gifts, with ACEM presenting each graduate with a custom-made academic gown and a set of Bao Zhaolong Library building blocks, symbolizing the college's eternal companionship. The graduates, in turn, presented the college with a specially designed paper-cut lamp, expressing gratitude for ACEM's guidance and symbolizing their commitment to carry forward the ACEM spirit.

The ceremony concluded with the leadership, faculty, and all graduates singing "Tomorrow Will Be Better," wishing for an even brighter future for the graduates, the college, and the nation on the occasion of ACEM's 40th-anniversary celebration.
