110 International Students Embark on a Journey at ACEM to Explore Chinese Business 2026-07-07

On July 6th, the Antai Global Summer Program (AGSP) 2026 of the Antai College of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University kicked off at the Xuhui Campus. From this day forward, 110 outstanding students from around the world has embarked on a three-week academic exploration of "Chinese Business" and a deep cultural experience of "Chinese Culture."

Since its inauguration in 2013, the program has attracted over 500 students and graduates from world-class institutions such as Harvard, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge, and the National University of Singapore. This year, the program has reached new heights with 110 undergraduates, postgraduates, entrepreneurs, and career professionals from 21 countries and 30 top universities gathering together, setting a new record.

At the opening ceremony, Professor Chen Fangruo, Dean of Antai College of Economics and Management, warmly welcomed students from around the world via a video address. He reviewed the century-long glorious history of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the development journey of Antai College. He shared the significant achievements of the college in recent years and expressed gratitude to international students for choosing Jiao Tong University and Antai. He encouraged students to make many friends and spend a fulfilling and rewarding summer in Shanghai.

Professor Qu Xi, Vice Dean of Antai College, delivered a speech on-site. She recounted the history of changes at the century-old Xuhui Campus and explained the origin of the name "Antai." She encouraged students to use this study journey to gain deeper insights into the Chinese economy, experience the charm of Chinese culture, and expand valuable international networks. She invited them to embark on a fulfilling and enjoyable Chinese business journey during the vibrant summer in Shanghai. Professor Qu Xi will personally teach the course "Data, Models, and Decisions" during the program.

Finally, Associate Professor Jiang Ming, the AGSP academic director, outlined the learning expectations for the three-week journey. He emphasized that this focused learning period is not only an accumulation of knowledge but also a deep refinement of thinking. He hopes every student will truly engage, achieving learning with reflection—thinking and colliding with questions in mind—and learning with application, transforming their knowledge into practical problem-solving skills.

This cohort of students boasts diverse and exceptional backgrounds, coming together to form a vibrant and promising international group. The program specially arranged a leading student dialogue session—under the guidance of Ms. Zhao Yiming and her team, students freely discussed their expectations and understanding of "Chinese Business". Through a series of engaging icebreaker activities, they quickly bridged the gap between each other, allowing their minds and bodies to truly "land" in Shanghai. This unique opening not only dissolved unfamiliarity and barriers but also set a warm and open tone for the upcoming three-week learning journey.

In the forthcoming in-depth exploration, students will tap into academic and industry insights, navigating through Shanghai's corporate and cultural landmarks to thoroughly grasp the heartbeat of China. This dynamic summer journey of academic exchange, business discovery, and cultural immersion sparks intellectual synergy, forges cross-border friendships, and subtly shapes the global landscape and vision for the future.
