文章简介:We study how COVID-19 affects stock market return expectations for individuals. We compare expectations for the same persons in the period May-June of 2019 (pre-COVID), June 2020 (height of Covid), and July-August 2021 (aftermath of Covid). We find that respondents were more optimistic in both 2020 and 2021 even after correcting for recent realized returns. Financially literate individuals are less likely to change their return expectations over time compared to those with lower financial literacy. Government interventions, measured by the Economic Support Index, do not seem to play an important role.
