题 目:Myths and Misunderstanding in Operations Management Data Analytics

嘉 宾:J. George Shanthikumar,特聘教授,普渡大学

主持人:李成璋 副教授 上海交通大学安泰经济与管理学院

地 点:安泰楼A511室

内容简介:

We will discuss some of the myths and misunderstandings in Operations Management Data Analytics (OMDA). These topics are:

1.Robust optimization is optimal (we really need a discussion on ‘what is a robust solution’)

2.Robust satisfying is better than robust optimization

3.Importance of robust optimization vs regularized optimization

4.Importance of distance measures – Divergence measures vs Wasserstein distance

5.Data pooling always brings benefit

6.Policies with asymptotically minimal regret are ‘optimal’ and

Machine learning algorithms can predict consumer choice probabilities without structure.
