内容简介:

Son preference (“重男轻女”), defined as the preference for male offspring over female offspring by parents and extended family, is a prevalent phenomenon in many societies. Our research offers the first systematic investigation of son preference from the perspective of its direct victims—women raised in families with a son preference. Specifically, we explore the following questions: How do women experience son preference during childhood? And how do these childhood experiences shape their behaviors and outcomes in the workplace? Three studies were conducted or are planned to address these questions.

演讲人简介：

Huiyao (Leo) Liao is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School. He received his PhD degree from the University of Iowa. His research focuses on work-nonwork interface, workplace inequality, motivation, and workplace relationships. His research has been published in leading management and psychology journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Psychological Bulletin, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management.
